IN WHICH CLOUD REGIONS IS MOTHERDUCK AVAILABLE?
MotherDuck is currently available in the AWS US-East-1 region. We have plans to expand to additional regions as part of our roadmap and encourage you to upvote (EU, US-West) or add other desired regions to Canny.

I wanted to add this: https://arxiv.org/abs/2406.00251 I would think that, with spite engineering, pushing this from DuckDB Labs / Motherduck would be very interesting and play very well into DuckLake (managing calculations in the DuckLake or as a DuckLake extension(?).

I mean that I want to be able to have a repository that I can commit to in order to develop a dashboard or report - be it in a dsl or an established language.

Hello Olivia P., no I'm more worried about tying a metric catalog to a downstream visualisation tool. As I see it, it would be an idea for MotherDuck to explore whether they are in position to utilise the DuckLake specification for implementing a standardised metric specification (calculations and dimensions etc.) that downstream visualisation tools could interface with. An open spec.

Okay - with EU expansion (and I’m sure you do your research yourself) I think it’s worth looking into. My anecdotal experience puts Azure at a substantial higher market share within EU compared to outside EU.

Exploring Semantic Layer Support in MotherDuck Solutions

Hello all (4/n), How (if at all) does MotherDuck support / think about handling a semantic layer (here I’m thinking about the definition, documentation (transparent metadata) and serving of calculations)? Ideally I would like to not have BI Dashboard tooling carry this part of the data solution. A solution is hosting e.g., Cube, but that puts an extra layer between both developers and BI Dashboard tooling (and thereby end users where I would like the hybrid query execution to help with performance). Regards, Lars Edit: thinking about the hybrid query execution model - calculations / metrics must be an interesting area for you.

BI tool has to:

be available through a browser
support row-level security, preferably with Entra ID (be it managed in tool or somehow with MotherDuck)
support development through code
generally be fast and support hybrid (cloud/local) query execution

Exploring BI Dashboarding Options for MotherDuck and DuckDB

Hello all 👋 (again), I’m seeing great possibilities in utilizing the MotherDuck / DuckDB capabilities for hybrid query execution - especially when I look at old boring (but very important) BI reporting and dashboarding. What are some of the available dashboarding / BI offerings that currently utilize the on-devive (e.g., laptop) hybrid query execution? I would like to evaluate the downstream BI offerings that could work with MotherDuck. Regards
