I totally get that y'all need to vet the patch to make sure it's "ready for prod". but might you consider shipping an experimental alpha release that users into which users could opt? I'm a duckdb extension ecosystem newb so I don't even know what's possible. maybe there's a flag I could pass to turn the incompat error into a warning?
both scenarios would enable Motherduck users like myself to help the company in their testing/tire-kicking efforts.
best case scenario, is it just works for me
worst case scenario: i hit a bug and gain empathy and appreciation for the work unsung work y'all Motherduckers do to bring stability to the OSS project
cool thanks. i assumed it is something you're working on. my ask is a feature request for a new alpha/beta channel that's published after a new DuckDB release but before you ship official support
Understood, I appreciate the clarification - it's something we are working towards; we appreciate the feedback! Nothing to report on release channels just yet, but we'll certainly keep you posted
