Hey folks - my MD organisation is old enough to pre-date the roll out to Europe - now that A) I want to start using the platform in anger and B) eu-west-1 is now on option how can I either migrate it (I know the docs say it CAN'T be moved) or else delete my account and start again (as yet, I have no meaningful content on there, so happy to throw it away and start with a clean slate)
What items specifically would you want to be moving around in these accounts? Or are you simply just wanting to see if it is possible to migrate current state of your MD Accounts out of one region and into another?
I want the whole organsiaation to be based in a region closer to both me and the data I'll be connecting to - for latency and egress as much as anything. I don't actually care about migrating the items right now. Happy starting with a blank sheet - but I couldn't see a way to either add a new organisation or delete/remove the existing one.
Okay. If I am understanding your ask here you are wanting to have an option to create multiple projects underneath one of your accounts, correct? Similar to projects within GCP whereby which one account could have multiple projects you could switch to?
in a perfect world, I'd probably just change this setting. My understanding is that isn't possible. So alternatively, how do I delete this account and start again
Yes, region alterations are not yet supported. You are locked in once the account is setup.
Deleting a MotherDuck account as an admin Delete the whole org: 1. Settings → Members → delete all other users. 2. Delete yourself last. The org goes with the last user. ⚠️ Deleting permanently removes your databases, shares, and Flights. After deletion, the email is freed up for re-signup or invites!
I can validate on my end if you share your email address with me
I also have an organisation that pre-dates European hosting and I also want to move my databases for similar reasons to Johny. My solution is live in production though. Creating a clean new Organisation would mean loosing 2+ years of invoice and usage history, and more seriously I'm not sure database snapshots would survive the backup & restore process. Would some one-off support be possible for organisations that have been on the platform for multiple years?
