Plans to Use DuckDB as Catalog for Ducklake in MD and Impact on Existing Deployments

Currently, ducklake fully hosted by MD uses postgres catalog, correct? Considering the quack extension are there plans to use duckdb as catalog as well and if so, will it be a possibility for existing ducklakes in MD?

Hey Patrick! Thanks for asking. Fully hosted DuckLakes use a DuckDB-backed catalog in MotherDuck. We are also tracking requests for Postgres catalog support, external DuckDB catalog support, and the ability to read from external DuckLakes outside MotherDuck. For Quack specifically, we plan to roll out support to coincide with the rollout of DuckDB 2.0 this fall. Let me know if that helps
